| The purpose of
Adult Learning in West Lothian is to:
Raise standards of achievement
in learning for adults through community based lifelong
learning opportunities incorporating the core skills of
literacy, numeracy, communications, working with others,
problem-solving and information communications technology (ICT).
Build community capacity
and influence by enabling individuals, groups and
communities to develop the confidence, understanding and
skills required to influence decision making and service
delivery. This includes enabling communities to provide and
manage services to meet community needs.
The target audience for
work with adults will be those of working age who need
additional support for core skills such as literacy and
numeracy, ICT skills, working with others and English as a
Second Other Language.
The service will also
provide opportunities for Educational Guidance to those who
wish to progress to further learning.
